Night Vision 2.19

If you're not melting as you read this, you're lucky. The downtown high rises never looked so tempting to me. It would seem that every club I go to has A/C problems, and I'm lucky to be into the "moist dog look" on girls, because that's what I'll keep seeing around all summer long. Despite the false start in April, I think the heat is ON.

The heat is ON during the week-end too. Terraces will get busy, and hormones will fly in your face in an unprecedented way if you dare to step out of your flat.

It's the last calm week-end before the Mutek craze hits town, and I recommend you spend it piss drunk. Waking up in a stinky back alley with your pants down and broken glass all over your butt never felt better.

News en vrac

Did anybody say Kavinsky ? That's right. The filthy French Miami Vice character signed to Ed Banger won't wait 'til he opens for Daft Punk at the Bell Center in August; he'll drop by Academy on May 9th ! There's no info about any promoters on the flyer, and no other names but his, but spy for me and if you find something out, drop me a line !

R.I.P. Bite my Style. After one month, lots of drinks & drunks, countless party animals and a legendary fight with security, Sunday Luv has decided to call it a night.

25/05

If you love Neon, and think you've got class, come on over to the S.A.T. and be prepared to strip your filthy soul bare - and your clothes too ! Oh yeah, and read our article about the party in the post below !!

The disco madness rages on @ Le Social, with Loose Joints in full swing ! This week, my man Philgood drops by to share his knowledge of all things funky. Afro far from mandatory.

At Academy Dancehall, the 28th Soirée Risquée goes down ! If you like to take risks, or to dance to some kick-ass minimal grooves, head over, as Vincent Lemieux & John Shananigans will twist your brain 'til you beg for mercy.

26/05

Panorama explodes with tightness as Arsen & Bender take on the Mile End Bar's decks. Always a good time, and always cutting-edge beats !

The 11th Électro-Chic night goes down at S.A.T. and will double as Omni's wedding party. That's right ladies, the man is no longer available, sorry ! So after sets by Fu Ancko, Yann & busy lil' Philgood, Omni will close the night with a bang, and probably spice up his sets with a few of his own tracks.

HeadzUp! has found a new home and will try out the Plateau's Zinc Lounge (1148 Mont-Royal) for another deep house extravaganza. The cover of 5$ gets you a pint, so if you couple that with Sunny D's warm welcome and Miles Moore's sweet selection, you can consider this a pretty good deal !

At Musée Juste Pour Rire, it's time to celebrate one year of iPod Battles that left out lots of dust and practically no blood on the various rings on which it took place. The 1st year anniversary proposes lots of hyper up teams, as well as a mid-time show by supergroup CLAAS, comprised of some of We Are Wolves' members and the fuckin' Prince of Darkness himself, Jordan Dare. Cherry Cola opens from 9 PM, and after the showdown it's up to the Nu Ravers on the Block to make you dance 'til you forget your name.

27/05

Philgood completes his week-end's hat trick by headlining Saphir's Beat me Up night alongside residents Cherry Cola & Mary Hell. Go Phil go !

BUT if you are to do only one thing on this traditionally lazy day, may I strongly suggest that you take your sweet ass to Ile Ste-Hélène ? Piknic's got something very nice in store for you : the Cynosure edition ! Jesse Morris and Jay Hunsberger open up their hearts, and Lazy Fat People's Mirko, from Switzerland, is to follow. Closing the night on the right foot will be quite easy, as expat Mike Shannon drops one of his infamous & infectuous sets. Fun in the sun, beer in hand...

29/05

Lady Sovereign drops by Montreal at Musée Juste Pour Rire, and the Peer Pressure boys will warm up the room. Crunk !

Dizzyphunk ! That's the spirit ! It's an all-out celebration this week with Chile's Andres Bucci, who plays alongside Maus. Time to kick those good vibes through the roof !

31/05

I have only one thing to say : Richie Hawtin & Magda @ Parking. Minimal-licious.

Mutek starts on the right note with Nocturne 2 @ S.A.T., in fact it starts on Wednesday May 30th, but for full info about the whole fest you can visit their website : www.mutek.ca - next week, we'll elaborate on our personal picks.

Next week

Carl fuckin' Craig drops by. Mutek rages on. Too much dancing & a heathwave kills everybody @ Piknic. And more, WAY more ! You won't know where to throw yourself.

Until then, dust off these Skinny Puppy 12" and FREAK OUT !
