Night Vision 2.18

From now on, I think I'll post this every Friday and include the Thursday of the following week. What do you think ?

Would it be better with a little gin & tonic on the side ? Would you like me to call you, instead, and gently whisper in your ear ?

Let's cut the crap, jump the shark, hop in the boat and sail away with all the drugs of the world. There's a week-end waiting for us and we're not about to miss a thing. Except that my heart may keep skipping a beat or two.

News en vrac

You know that it's time to think about booties and short skirts when summer comes along and brings you DJ Assault. That's right. There's a new booty temple in town and it's called Musée Juste Pour Rire. On June 1st, just before headin' to Stereo to see Carl Craig, you might as well consider seeing the man in action, alongside France's Boogalo Freeze and your friendly locals Rhys Taylor & Sarcastic. The thing is called Bounce That Booty and it's sick.

The Horrorist will appear at a party called Hitched on June 16th. One night in Montreal ? I sure hope some lucky fellas will fuck all night !

The most absurd news of the week ? Miss Kittin & The Hacker are reuniting and launching an album on Goodlife in early June. I'll beat that bitch with a bat.

One strong scream resonates through the desert city streets : "Kenny Glasgow !!". Also being the flyer of the week, this gig's gonna be shit-bananas. Glasgow hasn't been in town since I don't know when, and he's soon putting out new material on a Toronto based label called Red Circle. Mirrorballs & Soultek present this Red Circle Label Party tonight, with Kenny & Nitin, and B'Ugo and Cliff. Family fun for a friendly price, and the sweatiest dance party on St-Laurent ! At Academy Dancehall.

Over at Le Social, the Loose Joints night boys welcome Poontz, who's known for his feverish breakbeat sets but isn't limited to 'em ! Love on the dancefloor, y'all. And a pretty nice fuckin' flyer to boot.

Two choices are possible if you pretend you like good music :

In the right corner, the UK's Jesse Rose, crunkmaster supreme and provider of quality fidget house alongside Switch & Sinden on the very cool label Dubsided. The DiskHo boys are bringing him to Main Hall for an intimate night, and the openers are no stranger to funk : Mossa & Dirty Bird's The Bald & the Beautiful. Solid beats, solid sweat, and coolness.

In the left corner, my man Vedrenn, a new France producer who churns out solid songs like I churn out stupidities. He has released on Zoo Brazil's John Henry label, and has recently been signed to Stephan Bodzin's Herzblut. It's going down at Mile End Bar at Bender's Panorama night, and it should also be sweaty and nuts. A couple of doors South. Heaven Vs Hell. Looks like everybody will be in the mile end area !!

20/05

Long week-end, dudes... lots of shit to do on Sunday night since nobody's working on Monday - apparently because of some old queen.

But first, there's Piknic. What's that, will you say. It is the best idea Montreal has ever had. Outdoor dancing, bring your own booze kinda thing. Bring the sunglasses too, because there's some beauty to obsess over, believe me. All the beautiful montrealers will be dancing to Monolake, Pole, Slim Jim, mParadis & Sternreise. Hope the weather's nice. Pray.

Now nightly :

Bad Boy Bill, Kal & Troy Carter will be at Circus.

At Stereo, Danny Howells will extend his set 'til morning.

At Salon Daomé, a prestigious Finland expat relocated in Berlin pays a visit. He's called Vladislav Delay, and is launching his new album Whistleblower on Huume. He's also known to some of you as Luomo, the infectuous disco machine. Vincent Lemieux & Moka are also on the bill, and this one should be sweet.

Le Social's Bite my Style sees Sunday Luv, NYC's Sound Advice, the Team Canada DJs and a redhead named Sean Kosa team together to offer up a crazy evening of infinite good times.

Saphir's Beat me Up night proposes a crazy "Queereaction" party involving Disco Trash, Mary Hell, Cherry Cola, Bliss & Frigid. More queers for your bucks, and a bucketful of nice vibes.

Finally, going down at a venue we have chosen to boycott for various good reasons that may or may not be exposed here in the future, DiskHo's funtastik Danny Howells pre-party goes down with Mateo Murphy, Jeff Grosse & Matt Dimond, the bald OR the beautiful of the infamous crunky Boston duo. We only mention this bash because we love DiskHo, but don't count on us in the future to mention any of the future events going down in this basement.

22/05

It's Microzoo's turn to take control of the Daomé at this Dizzy / Telephunk Tuesdays thing. As SonOfLeGun puts it, it's time to go back to havin' fun and drop the 'tude, and a Nathan Burns / SonOf tag team will help you do just that, while Leloopar plays live. Sweets !

24/05

Poison Arrow, Archipel's Baya and our good men Diagraf & FancyFhreek do their thing at Pas-Sages, for free.

Salon Daomé's Fricoti welcomes Montreal expat Mike Shannon. Let's show him some good old local love, shall we ?

Saphir's Mix Thursdays features the UK's The Rogue Element, playing alongside Bind, Melon, Rhys Taylor & Spacekadet.

Helm's always free & fun Thursdays will be piloted by Clifford Brown from 8 to 1 and the man wants to warn you that there might be a few crash landings along the way.

Next week

You have to select between A Touch of Class and Fall Out Boy, Electro Chic or iPod Battle or HeadzUp!, Bite my Style or Beat me Up, and another heavenly Piknic with local & international heavyweights.

Until then, try to keep up !
