La Moustache Contre-Attaque
David Carretta is coming back to Parking, this Thursday, and if it is not a good enough reason for you to go out, then I don't know what would be.
Better known to the human race as the guy who's responsible for International DJ Gigolo's first ever release in '96, Carretta is an old school electro king who sometimes passes as a John Holmes lookalike. He has released stuff on Hot Banana, Dancefloor Killers and Goodlife, has three solid albums to register in the electro hall of fame, and a shitload of exceptional remixes to present as business cards. He has rubbed his fingers on the mixing board for artists such as Cosmo Vitelli, Kiko, Agoria, Puberty Love, Paul Nazca, Scratch Massive, Steve Bug, Kim Peers, The Hacker & Sinema.
Originating from Marseilles, he is a kind and moustached man from another time, a time where mirrorballs were ruling the earth and grandmothers were listening to 12" released by obscure european labels. His looks are reminiscent of Giorgio Moroder's, and he's swingin' like the 70's.
He recently figured that he might as well start his own and went ahead to launch Space Factory, who recently put out a double CD mix showcasing what the man is capable of.
His own music is a blend of electro with a touch of industrial, lifeless vocoderized vocals and inhuman topics and other sci-fi delights.
To get your ass kicked by a pioneer who plays with his lovely toys live in front of a bloodthirsty audience, try to make it to Parking's Overdose this Thursday and get yourself connected to the vibe with the help of the legendary cheap drinks (2.75$ for everything) or the mythical cute boys & girls attending.
