NYE Marathon: Quattrophonic 4 @ Stereo

Quattrophonic is swiftly becoming one of the best house night in Montréal. The December 30 edition of the monthly event rocked the Stereo's massive sound system with the fearsome foursome's ecclectic beats. Comprised of Eloi Brunelle, The Autist, Le Baron & Vega, the Quattro team provided us with a fluid, varied-yet-cohesive pot-pourri of modern house music, located at the half way point where each of the four DJs' styles meet. Let's just say that they had no trouble in getting everyone dancing until closing. Very good indeed. Be sure not to miss the next one on January 27th.

Song of the night: Yes "Owner of a Lonely Heart (Electric Vocal White Label Mix)", played by Eloi Brunelle.

Quattrophonic events are usually announced on Eloi Brunelle's site, as well as on the Stereo's page.

NYE Marathon: Tiga @ Parking

On December 29th, DJ Mini's last Overdose night of 2005 authoritatively kicked off Montréal's NYE celebrations with a bang: special guest DJ Tiga. Club Parking was naturally overcrowded and boiling: just like we like it. I could've done without the 45 minutes wait to get in and the equally long wait to get out, but alas it always seems like such a minute price to occasionally pay for our beloved weekly electro happening.

From a musical standpoint, Tiga's set was fine but not stunning, mostly showcasing the last few months' electro hits and giving us just a foretaste of what's in store for 2006. Am I the only one who still expects Montréal's electro superstar to pull a DJ Kicks-worthy performance out of his cap every time?

Unrealistic as my expectations may be they seem quite ridiculous when weighed against the $6.25 cover charge required to attend the event. Plus, Tiga played the fast version of "Far From Home", his next single, which was worth the trip by itself.

One question though: when are we going to hear "Move My Body" again?

DJ Mini presides over Montréal's weekly electro Overdose night at Parking. Her night often features guest DJs, such as Tiga.
