A Touch of Class @ La SAT
The New York-based production duo A Touch Of Class graced Montréal with an astonishing DJ set last Saturday night at La SAT. The affair, orchestrated by I Love Neon, also showcased locals Dr. Octoboobies & Jordan Dare.
Dare's set was similar to the one he presented at Parking last Thursday, and certainly as efficient a warm up as one could hope for.
Oliver "Class" Stumm and Domie "Le Touch" Clausen effortlessly subjugated the crowd with an assorted mix of old and new, where the Miamesque synths of Williams crashed wonderfully into the rock anthems of Blur or The Clash. Even Zdar's oft-neglected reggaes didn't seem out of place.
From rock to disco, to electro and funk – we got a little bit of everything, always served with A Touch of Class by the expert selectors from NYC, who certainly know how to keep a party going on strong all night long.

Yeah, that was something. You may have forgotten to mention, however, that they really sucked at beatmatching. Not that it's that much important when your selection is, like theirs, all over the place, but if Optimo or the 2 Many DJ's can pull it off, why should we accept this from them when we paid 15$ to hear 'em ?
Yeah, they switched tempo pretty radically, I guess. I think what they pulled off is making it not matter at all with their selection, though, 'cause it didn't strike me as 'a problem' at all.
