Voyeur 03 & Aria

April first was no fool's day as it was indeed time for yet another edition of the Voyeur monthly event at La SAT.

This third installment of the new Voyeur series featured Mateo Murphy and residents Bliss & Jordan Dare.

I got there a few minutes before midnight to an almost empty room: the dance floor was deserted, and the few people that were on the premises stuck to the sides of the room. The room in question, as it was set up, meant the front part of La SAT's ground floor. Also, the sound was HORRIBLY loud – it was impossible to communicate in any significant way with other human beings.

Despite the aforementioned unpleasantness, the part of Bliss' opening set I caught was pretty solid, electro as hell and interesting as always. Mateo Murphy began his set at midnight dropping solid groove after solid groove nonstop 'til 1:30. Luckily, a reasonable amount of people finally came in at around half past midnight and the party picked up, giving some meaning to Mateo's electro-tech onslaught.

I only caught the beginning of Jordan Dare's closing set, and it seemed to be heading in the same direction as his recent performances: back to back rock infused, disco punked electro-ish hits. Not exactly my cup of tea, and since I've heard that set quite often recently, I decided to leave, much to the wonder of the staff who seemed puzzled by my early departure.

Anyhow, I heard Maus was playing at Aria that night and I decided to check it out. Creator was also on the bill and for some reason I really got into his grooves this time around. Usually, the later half of his opening sets are too harsh for my tastes, but that time I really got into it all the way. Cool!

After Creator was done, King Louis showed up to play a few records and provided a perfect transition into Maus' set, which was excellent as usual: a highly musical and sophisticated experience, mostly centered on minimal/tech-house with a few visits in electro-land.

It was a very good night at Aria once again, and overall a pleasant evening.

That's it for now: time to catch some sleep!
