Everybody Loves Cox
His aim is clear - to get you to play a part in the celebration that is dancing and to get you to belong to that long-lost tribe of global party people oldschool ravers used to dream about.
Times have changed, the melody has progressed, but Carl Cox remains its ultimate conductor.
Carl Cox grew up around London, but more importantly around music – specifically soul, and later disco. At fifteen, he had already started to DJ but it wasn't until the mid-'80s arrival of acid house that he found his true musical direction. He and other London pioneers brought the sound of windy city to the UK, which eventually took solid roots through the burgeoning M1 rave circuit.
From then on, Carl Cox's career becomes the stuff of legend: from the morning set at Sunrise which earned him the "Three Deck Wizard" nickname, to his Love Parade appearance in front of 1.5 Million partygoers. Carl Cox truly has done it all, along the way taking home the respect and admiration of both fans and peers.
His gentlemanly attitude, irresistibly charming gap-toothed smile and his inimitable way of soulfully intermingling house & techno have conquered all, turning even the harshest party-crashers into funky dance machines for the duration of his sets. Perhaps that's why they also call him "The People's DJ" – the man simply won't be satisfied until everyone's having a good time.
Such is the mark of a truly successful DJ – to transcend the boundaries of genres and to get folks to leave all their troubles behind and party.
Forget about a global underground – welcome to the global mainstream.
